STAR (South Texans Against the Refinery)

is a coalition of residents, landowners, ranches, and organizations opposed to Raven Petroleum’s proposed refinery in the Duval, Webb, and Jim Hogg counties area.

Voice Your Opinion

Raven Petroleum has announced plans to build a 50,000 barrel per day oil refinery just four miles from Bruni and six miles from Hebbronville. Raven is only here to make a profit by shipping the refined oil to Mexico and does not care that our community will be getting all of the damage. Join the South Texans Against the Refinery (STAR) Coalition in showing Raven that they cannot take advantage of us! We will protect our families from the dangerous health risks that come from living near a refinery.

Why We Oppose

We believe Raven Petroleum’s proposed project in the tri-county area (Duval, Webb, and Jim Hogg counties) will cause numerous health and environmental risks that would threaten our local communities, including the towns of Bruni, Mirando City, Oilton, Aguilares, and Hebbronville.

Raven Resets the Clock

“Although Moore originally planned to file the necessary permits by the end of March, he said he needs another 4 to 8 weeks to finish the engineering review… any changes to the engineering ‘could shorten or lengthen that,’ and that he planned for the air permit application to be filed with the TCEQ in 60 to 90 days.” – San Antonio Express-News  (June 15, 2017)
